The beer is good. However, they offer a great deal more for a significant premium. When we were there, they had no ice for the soda pop. They used Gordon foods for at least the potato salad. The pulled pork itself was good, but the sauce for it was terrible. You have to order your drinks inside and your food separately outside. Odd. If you were paying half as much as they require, eating in an outside backyard “lot” would be okay, but the prices are indoors pricey. One could go on and on. If all you want is beer, this is the place for you. If you want over-priced food with a backyard atmosphere that you have to wait a long time for, this is for you too.

All said, beautiful bar and have definitely figured out some great hops, but Hop Lot has a long ways to go before they'll be competing with the likes of Founders.

[Coming from Grand Rapids, where breweries are everywhere:] Overly restrictive on policies: most breweries and restaurants use an effective tool called the traffic light system to determine when to serve and when to cut off. My boyfriend was told after two drinks that policy is a two-drink max on certain beers. Idiots abound nowadays, but don't tell me you're unable to serve me because a blanket policy exists on certain brews.

-Awesome atmosphere. Craftsmen style with great music.

Pros:

-Pet policy: I love dogs, but I absolutely get that there's a time and a place where a dog is inappropriate. A relaxing outdoor lounge with picnic tables and outdoor games might be appropriate for our furry friends.

What an awesome place. Simply put, there is not a better brewery/beer garden to go to. Good beer, good food, good atmosphere. It is nailed down in one stop.

Cons:

-Fair prices. You could easily spend the eve here without breaking the bank.

-Friendly and caring staff. Bar tenders were personable, and quick to explain their brews.

Love the outdoor seating! I had such high hopes for this place. The B&B I was staying on recommended it.The service however was sub-par. Told the waitress it was my first time there and she didn't care/know what to say cos she responded w/ "lots of choices". The meal I ordered said it came w/ cornbread, my food arrived w/o it. I asked about it and was informed they were out of cornbread but no alternative was offered. Again, really loved the seating and the concept is great but that's really it.

Food and music were good. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Beer (brown and amber)was decent. Wanted a growler of the amber but were told that they didn't sell it in growlers... Why? Were you running low? Then sell it to me and tell the later customers that you are out when there's no more!
